Turf
Weeds are most susceptible to DICOTOX EXTRA when in active growth during the early part of the season. Light drizzle while spraying or heavy rain a few hours later does not appreciably affect the results. A new lawn, from seed or turf, may take 6 months to become resistant. Test a small part before treatment.
Forestry
For control of woody species applications should be made in mid- or late summer. In conifer plantations, application should be carried out after the crop has hardened off and before the end of August. Overall sprays must not be made, but directed to avoid contact with the foliage, immature bark or 'leaders' of crop trees.
Crop Tolerance
Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis), Norway Spruce (Picea abies) and Serbian Spruce (Picea omorika) are moderately tolerant.
Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris), Corsican Pine (Pinus nigra var. maritima), Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), Grand Fir (Abies grandis) and Noble Fir (Abies nobilis) are rather less tolerant.
Lodgepole Pine (Pinus Contorta), Western Hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla) and Larch species (Larix spp) are sensitive.
Broadleaves are very sensitive to 2,4-D. (Forestry Commission Field Book 8 'The Use Of Herbicides In The Forest)
