Timing
Turf
Weeds are most susceptible to DICOTOX EXTRA when in active growth during the early part of the season. Light drizzle while spraying or heavy rain a few hours later does not appreciably affect the results. A new lawn, from seed or turf, may take 6 months to become resistant. Test a small part before treatment.

Forestry
For control of woody species applications should be made in mid- or late summer. In conifer plantations, application should be carried out after the crop has hardened off and before the end of August. Overall sprays must not be made, but directed to avoid contact with the foliage, immature bark or 'leaders' of crop trees.

Crop Tolerance
Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis), Norway Spruce (Picea abies) and Serbian Spruce (Picea omorika) are moderately tolerant.

Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris), Corsican Pine (Pinus nigra var. maritima), Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), Grand Fir (Abies grandis) and Noble Fir (Abies nobilis) are rather less tolerant.

Lodgepole Pine (Pinus Contorta), Western Hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla) and Larch species (Larix spp) are sensitive.

Broadleaves are very sensitive to 2,4-D. (Forestry Commission Field Book 8 'The Use Of Herbicides In The Forest)

Recommended Nozzles
ISO Brown 05F110 LB for power sprayers. ISO White 08F110 WH or ISO White DT 4.0 for knapsack sprayers.
Cautions
Avoid overlapping when spraying.

Do not apply during drought. Avoid contaminating ornamental plants or vegetables by spray drift (grapevines, tomatoes, lettuce, beet, cruciferae and peas are particularly susceptible) by keeping the nozzles set at the correct height and spraying in conditions of a light breeze.

Wash equipment thoroughly with water and wetting/detergent fluid immediately after use. Spray out in a safe place. Refill with clean water and leave overnight. Spray out again before storing or using for another product. Avoid drift by spraying in conditions of little or no wind.

Avoid spraying in hot weather as this may increase crop damage.

Trees less than 1 metre high must not be treated.

Overall sprays to forestry trees must not be made as this may lead to crop damage.

The first four grass mowings must not be used for mulchings and the clippings from these mowings should be composted for at least six months before use.

Grass should be cut 3 days before treatment and not cut again until at least 4 days after.
